New book aims to follow in the success of last year's Remembering Elephants, and raise funds to protect critically endangered rhinos across Africa and Asia

The release of 2016's Remembering Elephants, which collated the work of 65 photographers (under the banner of ‘Wildlife Photographers United’) into a single book, raised over £135,000 for Born Free's elephant conservation efforts in Africa, particularly Kenya, Ethiopia, Mali, Malawi and Zimbabwe. ‘Remembering Elephants is not just a curio for animal lovers,’ stated Geographical's review, ‘it’s a vital record for a species with an uncertain future.’

Now founder and photographer Margot Raggett aims to repeat the success with a sequel: Remembering Rhinos. ‘The response to Remembering Elephants was so overwhelmingly positive that we realised very quickly there had to be a follow up,’ she explains. ‘With the poaching situation for rhinos as bad as it is, it seemed a natural progression for us to concentrate on them next. Once again, all funds raised will therefore be going into Born Free’s anti-poaching efforts.’

As with Remembering Elephants, funds for Remembering Rhinos will be raised via an online Kickstarter profile, where supporters can pledge funds and request rewards in return. While some rewards have already been fully claimed, it is still possible to get yours hands on a rhino cuddly toy, a 60cm limited edition print, or, of course, a copy of Remembering Rhinos itself (pre-ordered books cost £40 each (RRP £45) plus postage).

‘Given the crisis facing wild rhino, Remembering Rhinos could not have come at a more important time,’ says Born Free’s President, Will Travers. ‘I’m thrilled that Wildlife Photographers United has teamed up with Born Free to once again produce what I know will be an outstanding book which will help save rhinos from extinction.’
